Public Health England have changed some text from ‘have a bisexual partner’ to ‘have a partner who is sexually active with another person’ in the list of circumstances where repeat testing is recommended.

Infectious diseases in pregnancy screening data report out
PHE have published the 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2017 infectious diseases in pregnancy screening (IDPS) programme standards report. This year is special because it is the first in which IDPS standards have been collected. The IDPS programme offers and recommends pregnant women in England screening for:
•HIV
•hepatitis B
•syphilis
“The report shows that between 1 April 2016 and 31 March 2017 in England:
•screening coverage for all 3 infections was over 99%
•more than 98% of results were reported to maternity services within 8 working days of samples being received by the laboratory
The proportion of pregnant women with hepatitis B who attended specialist assessment within 6 weeks of the positive result was 80.3% in England, which meets the acceptable threshold of 70%.”

Infectious diseases in pregnancy screening: standards data report
This report presents data against each of the programme standards for the NHS Infectious Diseases in Pregnancy Screening (IDPS) programme. The aim of the report is to feedback performance against the national standards to enable providers and commissioners to identify where improvements are needed.
Data was returned by maternity units and screening laboratories. Report includes analysis of:
•coverage
•test turnaround times
•times to interventions
•intervention and treatment

Protecting pregnant women against flu this winter
The Royal College of Midwives has a blog post written by Jane Scattergood, Midwifery Adviser at Public Health England, highlighting the importance of encouraging pregnant women to get vaccinated.

Public Health England has updated Infectious diseases in pregnancy screening standards. These revised national standards for the NHS infectious diseases in pregnancy standards programme (IDPS). The IDPS supports health professionals and commissioners in providing a high quality screening programme.
